We didn’t know what to expect when we arrived in LA and were afraid to set our hopes too high for the fear of being disappointed. We needn’t have worried.
Arriving late at night left much to the imagination as eventually found our fairy light lit apartment on Venice Beach. A meeting early in the morning meant exploring was left until the afternoon, and a walk down the beach disregarded any concerns we had about our expectations of LA. The beach was beautiful, littered with palm trees and framed down one side by the rolling waves; I think everyone was thinking of ways they could move here!
After a couple of days of kicking back and California Dreamin’ Mohawk Radio was ready to hit the town, and headed down to Sunset Boulevard with some friends via Beverly Hills [wow], to catch a gig at the well renowned Viper Room. It too exceeded expectations and both bands we saw put on a great show which we thoroughly enjoyed and made us even more excited for our upcoming gig at The Mint.
Our final day in California would not have been complete without a visit to the Hollywood sign, and so after dropping off the kit for the gig at the venue, we continued up the world’s windiest streets that felt like driving through someone’s back garden, up the hill towards the sign. After taking our iconic shots with Hollywood’s beautiful scenery in the background we went back to The Mint for the show. It was such a pleasure to play at a renowned venue such as The Mint and we loved every minute, again meeting some lovely and inspiring people who we hope to maintain contact with! In true ‘Rock n Roll’ style we headed straight back after the gig, due to an early flight the next morning.
LA, we will be back…
