‘Well, I’m standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, And such a fine sight to see, It’s a girl my lord, in a flatbed Ford, Slowin’ down to take a look at me.’ Arizona: land of sun and song.
Driving down to Tucson from Phoenix was breathe taking. As the sun set over the desert the rocks glowed red as we sped down the highway. Disappointed not to have seen either either any cowboys or the cast of breaking bad, we arrived in Tucson and hit the sack, rock ‘n’ roll style. The morning welcomed Nigel and Sue, fellow Mohawks of Manchester and good friends, who joined us for breakfast at ‘Bobo’s’, where we ate pancakes the size of pizzas and man-sized omlettes served by Bobo herself and prepared by her daughters and granddaughters, one coincidentally named Mia.
Tonight’s gig was at SkyBar, a quirky astronomy themed bar downtown. Playing alongside Pipelights and Iota was a pleasure, both bands gave a brilliant performance and it was great meeting such friendly and like-minded people in a town so far from home. We were again overwhelmed by the reception of the audience who were rockin’ n rollin’ Arizona style. We love to Tucson!
Brb, going horseriding…
