Mohawk’s at Monnow
It’s not every day that you get invited to record at Monnow Valley Studios, which, buried in South Wales’ exquisite scenery has hosted the likes of Queen, Black Sabbeth, Led Zepplin and Oasis to name a few…
We received the warmest of welcomes from proprietor Jo Riou and studio engineers Beau Blaise and Matt Glasbey, who alongside producer Tony Hobden were nothing but professional and hospitable throughout the entire duration of our stay. Joined by Oz Cahill and his group of enthusiastic Weston College students, the atmosphere at the studio was excitable and passionate, the students took a keen interest in Tony’s expert direction and were quick to help out wherever they could.
The studio itself is breathtaking, the prestigious doors creating a dramatic backdrop to a live room that oozes the energy of the musical history that has been created there. This was echoed by those present, who shared an energy that can only be stimulated by somewhere so renowned for its past, around individuals who share the same organic passion. The enthusiasm of the team and students in the studio was phenomenal, reflected in the final product, the quality of which was truly outstanding.
It was a true privilege to have the opportunity to record at Monnow Valley, and work with such a professional and efficient team with exceptional enthusiasm and kindness. It’s something that the band will treasure forever and we hope to be back very soon!
